Mon, July, 04, 2016 – 08:00 PST
The Hollywood Knights temporary new base is a Mutant Underground safehouse. The team is celebrating the 4th of July.
We learn that IMAGE has been successfully recruiting from the Mutant Underground.
Our celebration is interrupted by a Breaking News Flash. Captain Stalwart is dead. Murdered by an unknown superhuman. Other reports cover the theft of 10 bodies from a local Harris Landing graveyard.
Mr. Motion tells us that Captain Stalwart was an old friend and he is leaving to investigate his friend’s death. Hollywood Knights join him in Harris Landing.
City Center, Harris Landing
Mon, July, 04, 2016 – 10:00 PST
Hollywood Knights arrive to find a fresh crime scene with Law Enforcement, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Media.
Street Angel finds the highest ranking police officer, HLPD Lt. Morgan and offers their assistance. He is introduced to the lead HLPD Detective Davis. He had two witnesses, but no camera coverage.
We learned that here have been two other unexplained deaths recently. The local High School Principal Paul Daniels, and a local Mortician James Morgenson.
Our investigation kicks into high gear. We learn that David Morgenson, son of James Morgenson, and our prime suspect. Our investigation of the Morgenson’s home reinforces our suspicions.
We interviewed David Morgenson’s Vice Principle Dana Niedermeyer We convince her to identify David Morgenson’s friends, enemies, and bullies. The Hollywood Knights leave the school to interview them.
The investigation goes on for several days and while we know who we are looking for we can’t seem to find anything. Captain Stalwart, aka James Epstein, is laid to rest on Friday, July 8th. Unfortunately we are no closer to catching his killer.
Cemetery, Harris Landing
Tues, July, 08, 2016 – 10:00 PST
The day of Captain Stalwart’s funeral for is a who’s who of VIP’s, celebrities, and Superheroes. Including the Champions, the Protectors, and Hollywood Knights.
Mr. Motion stands in for his comrade’s family. At the most dramatic moment Carcass (aka David Morgenson) drops his disguise as City Councilman Davis, dozens of Zombies break through to the surface and attack the mourners.
Carcass grabs the body of Captain Stalwart before anyone can react and teleports away with the body.
My only job was to protect the body, but I failed.
The police, security, and superheroes quickly destroy the zombie horde, but there are casualties. The body count is 18 dead and 31 wounded.
The Champions and Protectors escort the mourners to safety and the local Law Enforcement imposes a curfew. Hollywood Knights will patrol the town looking for zombies and Carcass.
The heroes rescue several teens caught outside, but even so failed to save everyone. Later that night they receive an emergency call from the HLPD.
Gina Gomez, a local high school teacher was brutally murdered in her home. The body was dismembered. We come to the conclusion that the perpetrator must have been a Zombie Captain Stalwart.
A car crashes down into the living room.
I order the HLPD to clear the area and Hollywood Knights engage Zombie Captain Stalwart.
Knowing Captain Stalwart’s capabilities I unleash my most lethal attack. Zombie Captain Stalwart targets me. Using a Death from Above attack it charges through me as I become light, crashing into the ground, and burying itself in a crater.
Hollywood Knights gang up on it. I clear the hole, not wanting to get caught in an area attack. The others do not listen to my warning.
Carcass makes another dramatic entrance and attacks Mr. Motion, stunning him. Amber traps them in the crater. I heal Mr. Motion and restore him enough to return to the fight. Carcass loses the initiative and teleports away with Zombie Captain Stalwart.
Frustration does not begin to describe how I feel.
The Champions, the Protectors, and Hollywood Knights meet up and convince the Authorities to evacuate the town. A brief debate on who escorts the civilians to safety ends with the Hollywood Knights staying behind to deal with the threat.
Defender gives us a map of a network of caverns under the cemetery as the possible lair of Carcass.
Midnight digs a tunnel into the caverns and Hollywood Knights search and destroy any Zombies we find. We locate Carcass’s sleeping area, entertainment area, and a cavern with his semi-sentient Zombie mother.
She babbles on about her son and his new friends. About how her husband murdered her by pushing her down the stairs. We leave her alone to her knitting. Mr. Motion does not even suggest destroying her.
A search of Carcass’s sleeping area reveals a cut fingernail under the mattress. Deducing that it may be a teleport focus we lay an ambush for Carcass. While waiting for our targets we deduce that Carcass and the Zombies may be vulnerable to sunlight.
Carcass’s Lair , Harris Landing
Tues, July, 09, 2016 – 05:17 PST (Sunrise)
As the hours pass and dawn approaches Carcass and Zombie Captain Stalwart arrive. Detecting our presence they move to attack us.
Mr. Motion attacks Zombie Captain Stalwart and is hit by Carcass. I unleash everything on Zombie Captain Stalwart and the others move into position.
Mr. Motion grabs Carcass and drags him to the surface. In the sunlight he begins to burn.
Meanwhile in the caverns below, the rest of Hollywood Knights continue to battle Zombie Captain Stalwart.
The battle is desperate and Carcass escapes from the burning sun and teleports into the sleeping area.
I try to distract Zombie Captain Stalwart as Hollywood Knights gang up on Carcass.
Mr. Motion grabs Carcass and drags him to the surface. Where upon Twister carries them both farther into the sunlight and the villain begins to burn.
Meanwhile in the caverns below; the rest of Hollywood Knights continue to battle Zombie Captain Stalwart.
Carcass escapes from the burning sun and teleports into the sleeping area. Where he is attacked by Midnight, Amber, and PSI-Kick.
I manage to delay Zombie Captain Stalwart for a moment. Seeing his Master in danger he flies over, grabbing Carcass, and makes for the surface. Quickly pursued by the whole team of Hollywood Knights from above and below.
I manage to chip away some more of Zombie Captain Stalwart. Before pursuing them both just outside the entrance.
Twister and Mr. Motion are both badly wounded by an attack by Carcass. In desperation Carcass strikes Mr. Motion a mortal wound literally blowing his body apart. Zombie Captain Stalwart hesitates and Carcass looks angrily on his slave. “I guess this does not make us friends anymore.” echoing his contempt.
A glimmer of humanity returns to Zombie Captain Stalwart. “Matt!!! What have I done? What have I become?” Mr. Motion dies mumbling words to his friend. Turning on his master he grabs Carcass and flies straight towards the sun dropping the villain from what has to be a half mile up.
Carcass teleports away only to land in PSI-Kicks hands (Literally) where she has the fingernail. She attacks the villain but her attack appears ineffective. Enraged I unleash a barrage of deadly living light bolts at point blank range on the villain who is on the ground. Knocking him unconscious.
The team stops me before I unleash another barrage on a defenseless target. Calming me down as we call in PRIMUS to arrest, detain, and transport Carcass.
I try to bring Mr. Motion back, but his spirit is gone. I heal Twister and we wait. The PRIMUS Agents arrive to find us around the body of our teammate Mr. Motion aka Matthew Doxen.
Silver Avenger Webster agrees to handle the body of Mr. Motion with respect and the highest level of security.
